The visual identity system for WAIFC — how our logo, colour and typography come together to bridge Western Australia and India's screen industries.
WAIFC is a not-for-profit industry council connecting Western Australia and India through cultural exchange, delegations, festivals and partnerships. Our brand should always feel warm, credible and cinematic — a considered bridge between two rich creative cultures.
We build together across borders — the identity favours partnership over hierarchy.
Two cultures, treated as equals. Warm golds and considered typography carry that intent.
Clear, honest and open. Generous space and legible type keep communication uncluttered.
Relationships built to last. A timeless, editorial system rather than a passing trend.
Our logo is the primary expression of the brand. Use the master horizontal lockup wherever possible. The standalone symbol is reserved for tight or square spaces — avatars, favicons and app tiles — where the full lockup would not be legible.
Always keep clear space around the logo equal to the height of the symbol (“X”). Never let other elements, type or edges intrude on this area.
To protect legibility, never reproduce the lockup below 120px / 32mm wide, or the symbol below 24px. When in doubt, give it more room.
Never stretch, squash or rescale the logo disproportionately.
Keep the logo horizontal. Never tilt or set it on an angle.
Only use the approved dark, reversed and gold versions.
No drop shadows, glows, gradients or outlines on the logo.
Don't place the logo on busy imagery or low-contrast backgrounds.
Respect the clear space — never crop or crowd the lockup.
A warm, cinematic palette led by a gold primary and a terracotta-orange secondary, grounded by a neutral ink range. Every value below is driven live by the site's colour variables, so the palette here always matches production.
--_alias---colours--primary-*--_alias---colours--secondary-*--_alias---colours--neutral-*Two typefaces carry the brand: Newsreader, an editorial serif for headlines and moments of voice, and Geist, a clean, contemporary sans for body copy and interface. Both are wired to the site's typography variables.
--_alias---typography--title-font--_alias---typography--body-fontThe system runs on a consistent set of spacing, radius and component tokens — the same variables used across the WAIFC website — so every layout feels part of one family.
Primary actions use gold (primary-400); secondary actions use terracotta (secondary-400). Radius 6px, generous horizontal padding.
